I was asked by Don Petersen from Ole Pete’s Tackle Company to compile a list of Hornet Spoons using my favorite Colors and Patterns. Along with my own selections based on my personal success I also solicited the opinions of many Charter Boat Captains and Bait and Tackle Dealers who use/sell his products. I’m sure these patterns will help you catch more Walleye and a few Steelhead too.
Here’s some extra information for what it’s worth pertaining to the list…
· Bad Dawg - Caught the biggest Walleye last year on our boat.
· Bad Boy’s Money continued to be a favorite all year long.
· Dingleberry, Dead Raven, The Green Mile, Preparation H did well in the early morning hours.
· Cheetos, Confused Dolphin, Sour Grapes , Stop or Go, Lucy in the Sky did well in the mid morning hours.
· Listerine, Bad Boys Money, Spicy Chicken Wings, Toothless Blind Date, Cheetah, Paris Hilton, Rods Big One, Pancho Villa, Pat Miass did well in the early afternoon hours.
· Hornet Sting, Pampers, Grease Monkey , Red Skelton, Snowman, Money Tree and Puppet Master did well in the late afternoon hours.
· Toothless Blind Date was the first pattern copied last year by another lure maker.
· Bad Dawg, Sour Grapes, Listerine, Van Go Pink, Dead Raven did well in May.
· Bad Boy’s Money, Spicy Chicken Wings, Toothless Blind Date, Hornet Sting, Paris Hilton, Cheetos, did well in June.
· Grease Monkey, Blue Moon, Money Tree, Rod’s Big One, Instant Karma, Confused Dolphin did well in July,
· Yellow Polka Dot Bikini, Puppet Master, Mars Attacks, Sweet Baby James did well In August.
· Fat Elvis, Spank Me, Pat Miass, I’ve Gotta Feeling, did well in September.
· My personal Favorite… Spank Me
· Go to Spoon… Bad Boy’s Money
· Best Name… Pat Miass
· Newer one’s I’d bet on this year… Casper, Captain Crunch, Curious George, It’s Contagious, Jet Stream, Piggies, Rocky Raccoon, Sausage Gravy Milkshake, Spooner, Strawberry Fields and Tickled Pink.
